Prompt Submission Updates

May 9th, 2024

Today we are launching a new change for prompts sold on PromptBase, in that all prompts now require example prompts to be submitted alongside them.

We are also launching a new feature that allows all prompts to be instantly converted into apps at no cost for prompt creators, allowing sellers to boost their revenue with more offerings.

New Requirement: Prompt Examples

For all new prompt submissions, we now require a number of example prompts to be submitted alongside your prompt.

Many users have already been submitting examples alongside their prompts by including them in their prompt instructions.

These examples are loved by prompt buyers, however the unstructured nature of including examples in instructions caused a lot of confusion for buyers - as some prompts have examples, some have a few, and some have none.

Therefore, we are introducing a new structured way to submit examples alongside prompts that will be shown to the buyer when purchased, in order to increase overall marketplace quality.

- For image prompts, we now require the 9 example prompts that correspond to your 9 preview images.

- For text prompts, we require 4 example outputs from your prompt.

Our new tool makes adding prompt examples simple, allowing you to easily type in the variable values for each example of your prompt.

Prompts with examples will have an indicator on their store page showing a buyer how many examples are included. You can go back and add examples to your prompts by editing them from your account (no review is required). Prompts containing examples will also receive a slight boost in search rankings in the future.

Other submission changes

As well as adding prompt examples, we've made a number of other changes to prompt submissions:

  • Removed testing prompts: We'll now randomly use one of your prompt examples to test your prompt.
  • Removed preview inputs/outputs for text prompts: We'll now automatically generate this based on one of your examples.
  • Prompt variable requirements: Every prompt now must have variables in [square brackets].
  • Prompt instruction requirements: Prompt instructions now require a minimum amount of text instructions for the buyer.
  • Image re-ordering: You can now re-order the preview images by dragging them.
  • Improved 9-image grid generation: Grids will generate more consistently, and be less likely to get overwritten.
  • Re-design prompt edit & prompt purchases: We've tweaked the design of prompt files in your account, and for purchased prompts to make them more consistent with other parts of the website.

Instantly create apps from prompts

When a prompt has prompt examples, you'll be able to instantly convert it into an app (for free), allowing you to earn extra revenue every time somebody runs a generation of your app.

For new prompt submissions, simply enable the conversion by clicking the checkbox on the first page of the prompt selling flow.

For existing prompts, once a prompt has examples added, you can click the 'Create an app' button on the edit page of your account.

The newly created app will be linked to your prompt, and shares the same status, e.g if your prompt is approved, the app will be approved also.

Once your app is approved, you can edit its title, description and credit cost from the app builder by going to the App > Edit live app cost/details menu.

Apps that are linked to a prompt will display on the prompt page as a related item, and vice versa the prompt will appear on the app page.

Feedback & future

Our main aim with this update is to improve marketplace quality by standardising submissions. We also hope the ability to offer prompts as apps will boost revenue for sellers and give more options to buyers to generate with a prompt without seeing it.

If you have any questions or feedback about these changes, please get in touch using the email on our contact page, or send a message to @ben.
