Improved text, to the level of a masters level student: Genetically modified organisms (GMOs), particularly those used in agriculture, have long been a source of controversy and backlash. The Green Movement, a coalition of organizations seeking political and social change with the shared goal of preventing a climate emergency, has been the driving force behind this opposition (Doherty, 2005). Examples of these organizations include Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and Soil Association. Environmental concerns, along with political and social opposition, have been the primary reasons for disapproval of genetic modification (GM) (Blancke, 2015; Siipi and Launis, 2009). Unfortunately, this resistance has hindered the development and distribution of GM crops (Lucht, 2015). Nevertheless, a comprehensive understanding of the motivations behind this opposition can inform future developments in GM crop production. Therefore, it is crucial to explore the reasons for the Green Movement's disapproval of GMOs, as well as the broader political, social, and environmental implications of this resistance. ----------------------- ORIGNAL TEXT: Genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), particularly the ones used in agriculture, have seen a long history of controversy and backlash since they were made. Dislike for these GMO’s has been led by the “Green Movement”, who can be described as a group of organisations who seek political and social changes who have a shared goal of avoiding a climate emergency (Doherty, 2005). examples include Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, and Soil Association. These groups focus on environmental impacts along with political and social opposition to be the overarching reasons for genetic modification (GM) disapproval (Blancke, 2015; Siipi and Launis, 2009). Sadly, resistance towards GM crops has slowed down their development and distribution (Lucht, 2015). Even though this, understanding of this opposition and the motivations behind it should aid in future developments in GM crop production.
