Gundren and his escort left before you, planning to meet you at the town of **Phandalin**. You ride alone now, the trail quiet except for the crunch of your boots on the road. Suddenly, as you round a bend, you notice **two dead horses blocking part of the trail**, one still twitching, and signs of a struggle—broken wagon pieces, spilled crates, and tracks leading into the forest.
