“As I walked along the road, I witnessed a terrible event. World War II was in full swing, and I couldn't believe my eyes. The air was thick with bomb smoke, and warning sirens ripped through the air. People were shouting and running in the opposite direction. War had destroyed the once bustling city, and now the smoking ruins eclipsed the view. I heard a rumble, and the sky filled with flying planes. A squadron of German bombers was attacking the city, dropping bombs on the roofs of houses. The earth shook under our feet as bombs exploded, and people screamed in terror. I felt like I was in a nightmare, like all of this wasn't real. The planes turned towards the main roads. German tanks were approaching the city, and I could hear the thunder of their guns. Planes were starting to bomb Allied troops, and we knew that if we didn't do something, the city would soon be taken. So we began to organize our defenses. People scavenged scrap materials and put together makeshift barriers. We dug tunnels under the road so that we could hide in case of an attack. We built trenches and fortifications so that we could resist the enemy attack. German troops were closing in, but we finally managed to hold on. The city remained in the hands of the allied forces, and the war was won. However, the traces of the devastation that the war had brought remained. The streets were still filled with rubble, and the houses were still covered in mud. World War II had changed life in that city forever, and we would never forget it.”
