Review Title: The Impact of Telemedicine on Patient Satisfaction and Health Outcomes
Background
Telemedicine has seen rapid growth in recent years, but its impact on patient satisfaction and health outcomes remains unclear. This systematic review aims to synthesize the existing evidence on the impact of telemedicine on patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
Objectives
To systematically review and synthesize the evidence on the impact of telemedicine on patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
Eligibility Criteria
Studies will be included if they:
a) Compare telemedicine interventions with traditional in-person care.
b) Report patient satisfaction and/or health outcomes.
Information Sources
The following databases will be searched for relevant articles:
a) PubMed
b) Web of Science
c) Scopus
d) Cochrane Library
Search Strategy
A combination of keywords and MeSH terms related to telemedicine, patient satisfaction, and health outcomes will be used for the literature search.
Study Selection Process
Two independent reviewers will screen titles and abstracts of identified articles. Full-text review will be conducted for potentially eligible articles. Disagreements will be resolved through discussion or consultation with a third reviewer.
Data Extraction
A standardized data extraction form will be used to collect study characteristics, telemedicine interventions, and outcome measures. Data extraction will be performed independently by two reviewers, with discrepancies resolved through discussion or consultation with a third reviewer.
Quality Assessment
The quality of included studies will be assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool for randomized studies and the ROBINS-I tool for non-randomized studies. Two reviewers will independently assess the quality of each study, with disagreements resolved through discussion or consultation with a third reviewer.
Data Synthesis and Analysis
A narrative synthesis will be conducted to summarize the findings of the included studies. If sufficient data is available and deemed appropriate, a meta-analysis will be conducted using a random-effects model. Heterogeneity will be assessed using the I² statistic, with potential sources of heterogeneity explored through subgroup analyses.
Dissemination
The results of this systematic review will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at relevant conferences. The findings will contribute to a better understanding of the impact of telemedicine on patient satisfaction and health outcomes, informing healthcare providers, policymakers, and researchers.
