Redesigning a fitness app to improve user engagement, navigation, and visual appeal is a great challenge for a UI/UX designer. Here's a sketch of a new layout for the app:
Home Screen:
The home screen features a visually appealing background with a motivational fitness quote or image.
At the top, there's a search bar for quick workout or exercise searches.
Below the search bar, there are three main sections:
Featured Workouts: A carousel or grid displaying curated workout routines, which could include trending workouts or personalized recommendations based on the user's preferences and history.
My Workouts: A section displaying the user's saved or recently completed workouts. Each workout is represented by a thumbnail image and a title.
Challenge of the Day: An interactive feature that presents users with a daily fitness challenge. Users can accept the challenge and track their progress.
Navigation:
The bottom navigation bar consists of five tabs:
Home: The default landing page.
Workouts: Users can explore a wide range of workouts sorted by type (e.g., cardio, strength, yoga) and duration.
Progress: This tab includes user statistics, such as workout history, achievements, and a progress tracker. Users can see their improvements over time.
Nutrition: A new addition to the app, providing nutrition plans, recipes, and a food tracker. This complements users' fitness journeys.
Profile: Access to user settings, personal information, and preferences.
Workout Details:
When a user selects a workout, they are taken to a dedicated workout detail screen.
Here, they see a high-quality video of the exercise being performed correctly, along with step-by-step instructions and key benefits.
Users can easily add the workout to their plan, schedule it, or mark it as completed.
Progress Tracking:
Users can access their progress from the Progress tab.
This section includes graphs and charts that visually represent their fitness journey, such as weight loss, strength gains, or endurance improvements.
Users can set specific goals and track their achievements over time.
Nutrition:
In the Nutrition section, users can browse and search for healthy recipes and meal plans.
There's also a food diary where users can log their meals and track their daily calorie intake.
The app can suggest personalized meal plans based on the user's fitness goals and dietary preferences.
Profile:
Users can access their profile settings, where they can update their personal information, fitness goals, and notification preferences.
There's an achievements section, where users can earn badges or rewards for completing challenges or hitting milestones.
Visual Appeal:
The app features a clean and modern design with a predominantly white background, which makes the content and images stand out.
High-quality images and videos are used throughout the app to demonstrate exercises, meals, and progress tracking.
A consistent color scheme and typography enhance the overall visual appeal.
This sketch focuses on improving user engagement through personalized recommendations, better navigation, and an enhanced visual experience. It also addresses the importance of incorporating nutrition tracking to provide a holistic approach to fitness and wellness.
