Script for a Session to Help with Severe Anxiety:
Start by getting your patient to find a comfortable and relaxed position.
Guide them to take a few deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Ask your patient to close their eyes and imagine themselves in a peaceful place. It could be a beach, a forest, a mountain, or any place they find relaxing.
Encourage them to imagine the colors, sounds, and sensations of this place.
Ask them to feel the peace and calmness of this place and allow it to sink into their body.
Now, guide your patient to imagine a white light surrounding them, filling them with a sense of safety and security.
Ask them to focus on their breathing and let go of any thoughts or worries that may be causing their anxiety.
Encourage them to imagine that with every breath they take, the white light grows stronger, enveloping them in a sense of calm.
Ask your patient to repeat to themselves, "I am safe and secure, and I am in control of my thoughts and feelings."
Guide your patient to stay in this peaceful state for as long as they need to, before slowly bringing them back to the present moment.
