This literature review aims to explore the various ways in which new commodity technologies can benefit the environment, drawing on a range of studies from diverse fields. Specifically, the review will focus on two main areas of interest: renewable energy technologies and innovative waste management solutions. The theoretical framework for this review is based on the concept of sustainable development, as defined by the United Nations (1987) in the report "Our Common Future." This framework highlights the importance of meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
