DEMOGRAPHICS, VALUES, FAVORITE CONTENT, UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS:
I am a a thirty year old female stay-at-home mom living in Austin, Texas, with an annual income of $50,000 and married, I have fears of failing as a parent and not being able to provide a healthy lifestyle for my child. I believe in the power of positive parenting and the importance of providing a nutritious diet to my child. My top five values in life are health, love, education, empowerment and balance. My goal is to get my child to eat vegetables with ease and enjoyment, and my biggest challenge is getting them to do so without a fight every time. I have tried solutions such as offering rewards for eating vegetables, hiding vegetables in other food, and modeling healthy eating. My favorite books are The Whole-Brain Child, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen, and The Power of Positive Parenting. My favorite speakers are Dr. Shefali Tsabary, Dr. Laura Markham, and Dr. Harvey Karp. My top three idols are Michelle Obama, Brene Brown and Oprah Winfrey. My favorite social media platform is Instagram and my favorite medium to learn new information is YouTube videos. My favorite websites are Mama Natural and The Conscious Kid.
WORRIES & FEARS:
What worries keep me up at night are thoughts of not doing enough to help my child develop a healthy diet and not being a good enough parent. I'm scared that this challenge reflects my own failure as a parent and that I'm not providing the best environment for my child. I avoid seeing other parents who seem to have their child's eating habits under control because it triggers anxiety and fear that I'm not doing enough. The worst-case scenario is that my child will miss out on important vitamins and minerals, and will be more likely to develop health issues down the line. I will feel powerless in the grocery store, when I know I should be buying more vegetables for my family but I'm struggling to get my child to eat them.
CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES, & QUESTIONS:
Positive communication would help me to better explain to my child why eating vegetables is important and why they should enjoy them, which would make it much easier to get them to eat them. It would make it easier if I could find fun and creative ways to get my child excited about vegetables, such as making vegetable-based meals that look and taste appealing. My top three unanswered questions related to getting kids to eat veggies are what are the best methods for getting my child to eat vegetables, how can I make eating vegetables more enjoyable for my child, and how can I ensure that my child is getting the most out of the vegetables that they do eat.
DREAM SOLUTION:
I wish that it was easier to get my child to eat vegetables without having to resort to rewards or tricks. I would pay anything for a program that would teach me how to get my child to eat vegetables with ease and enjoyment. If my "dream solution" unfolded perfectly, my child would be eating vegetables regularly and enjoying them, and I would feel more confident in my parenting skills. If my "dream solution" comes true, I will be able to provide my child with a nutritious diet and have peace of mind knowing that I am providing the best for them. I am not willing to resort to bribery or threats to get my child to eat vegetables.
